Part of an art-trade of sorts, in which I colored one of his deviations in exchange for a request. Took about 3-4 hours in Paint Shop Pro.

Nice. Speaking of art trade, the other day I was thinking of subjects that me and you could do an art trade for. I haven't came up with anything that would work so far, though I suppose I could always do a graphite image and you could color it. :D

Even better, I could do a graphite, JadeRaven could ink it and you could color it. :D Or we could do 3 images and each time switch to doing a different part.

To color the background, I colored everything else first, then basically selected the whole workspace and deselected the colored sections using the Magic Wand tool (leaving only the white background and dark text selected), then dumped a custom gradient effect across it on a new layer and made the color transparent to let the black text leak through.

Did that answer your question? ^^; I'd think similar programs have similar tools too, so it might work on your program as well.
